(408) 792-2770 For release on November 1, 2007 ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY ROLANDA PIERRE-DIXON RECEIVES AWARD Assistant District Attorney Rolanda Pierre-Dixon was awarded the Stephen L. Von Reisen Lecturer of Merit Award from the National College of District Attorneys (NCDA) on Wednesday. Pierre-Dixon received the award “in recognition of exceptional service in the continuing professional education of all individuals who work on behalf of domestic violence survivors, their families, and our communities.” The award is named for Stephen L. Von Riesen, a former prosecutor and Director of Training at NCDA. Pierre-Dixon has been with the District Attorney’s Office since 1981. She has received numerous awards for her work addressing domestic violence issues in the community. In 2003, Pierre-Dixon received the John W. Gardner Leadership Award from the American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley. In 2002, she was a Distinguished Alumni Award winner from the University of Santa Clara Law School. In 2000, The San Jose Mercury News named Pierre-Dixon a member of the “Millennium 100,” which includes those who made Silicon Valley what it is today. In addition, she developed the first training program for the San Jose Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit and has chaired a great number of committees. ###
