D.A. FINISHES CISCO-CITY INVESTIGATION
I am done with my Cisco-City of San José investigation and do not intend to take any further action. The persons who violated city ordinances, policies and procedures are gone. No violations were for personal benefit of decision makers. The Cisco decision originated from within the IT Department, not from Mayor-Council/City Manager downward. The decision was not directly related to the Mayor’s trip to Scandinavia; IT staff, without mayoral knowledge, and well in advance of the Cisco summit, had already planned on using Cisco equipment. No company benefited financially from improper procedures. Cisco was fully cooperative in the investigation. A lengthy, too-thorough investigation by one of this region’s best criminal investigators revealed nothing more scandalous in this matter than that documented in the leading local daily here.
