(408) 792-2997 For release on Monday, March 23, 2009 DISTRICT ATTORNEY DOLORES CARR TO HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE AT CRIME LAB THIS AFTERNOON Date and time: Monday March 23, 2009 at 2:00pm Location: Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office Crime Laboratory, 250 West Hedding Street, San Jose, first floor conference room Purpose: District Attorney Dolores Carr and Special Agent in Charge Anthony D. Williams of the US Drug Enforcement Administration will discuss last week’s seizure of massive quantities of cocaine, currency, and firearms in one of the largest operations in Santa Clara County history. This was the result of a strong collaborative effort among various agencies. Those agencies involved include the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, US Drug Enforcement Administration, California Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement (UNET), Immigration and Customs Enforcement, San Jose Police Department, Mountain View Police Department, Gilroy Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, and Soledad Prison K-9 Unit. 14 people were arrested, and the following items were seized in this case: 191 kilograms of cocaine, with a cash value exceeding $5,000,000.00, approximately $1,000,000.00 in US currency, three firearms, night vision goggles and 10 automobiles. ###
