(408) 792-2855 For Immediate Release DISTRICT ATTORNEY PROMOTION District Attorney George Kennedy announces: Supervising Deputy District Attorney ROLANDA PIERRE-DIXON has been promoted to Assistant District Attorney, one of five policy-level attorney positions in the 185-attorney Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. Other Assistant District Attorneys are: Marc Buller, Steve Gibbons, Dave Howe, and Dave Tomkins; Karyn Sinunu is the Chief Assistant. Pierre-Dixon replaces former Assistant D.A. Bill Larsen who retired from that position at the end of 2005. The position is equivalent to deputy chief in a police department. Pierre-Dixon will continue to be in charge of the Family Violence Division, including partner abuse, stalking, child abuse, child abduction, elder abuse, and family violence homicides; she will also be in charge of the Juvenile Dependency Division and training. Pierre-Dixon was 2003 John W. Gardner Leadership Award winner from the American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley. She was 2002 Distinguished Alumni Award winner from University of Santa Clara Law School. She was named a member of the "Millennium 100" those who made Silicon Valley what it is today by the San Jose Mercury News (2000). She received the Instructor of the Year Award from the California District Attorneys Association and has been a member of the Board of Directors of that organization. She is a Board Member of the Silicon Valley Conference for Community and Justice. She is past Chair of the Santa Clara County Black Lawyer’s Association. She received the Woman of Achievement Award-Professions and has been a Fellow of the Western Society of Criminologists and Chair of the State Bar Committee on Women in the Law. Kennedy said that among the exceptionally well-qualified candidates for Assistant District Attorney, Pierre-Dixon had the best background to execute his plan for a consolidated and expanded family violence initiative. # # #
