(408) 792-2542   For release on February 16, 2011     FORMER AIRLINE EMPLOYEE FACES FELONY CHARGES FOR STEALING AND USING CUSTOMER CREDIT CARD NUMBERS   49 year-old Micheline Johnson of Concord, CA, was arraigned February 3, 2011 on a 66-count felony complaint charging Grand Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Identity Theft. Ms. Johnson worked as a customer service agent for American Airlines at the Mineta San Jose International Airport.   It is alleged that for several years Ms. Johnson had been skimming customers’ credit card numbers and using those numbers on counterfeit credit cards to make purchases from Safeway stores in California, Nevada and Washington states. Safeway analysts have linked Ms. Johnson to at least 2800 separate transactions using 350 unique credit card numbers. Several victims report that their accounts were also used at other retailers. The fraudulent Safeway purchases exceed $480,000.   Ms. Johnson is currently in custody, being held on $1 million bail. She is due back in court on February 28, 2011. If convicted of all charges, she faces a maximum sentence of 48 years, 4 months prison.   This case was investigated by REACT, a Bay Area high-technology crimes and identity theft task force led by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.
