For release on May 2, 2016   CONTACT: Tim McInerny, Deputy District Attorney Sexual Assault Unit (408)201-0541   FORMER PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER CHARGED WITH RAPE OF DISABLED WOMAN   Former professional football player Dana Stubblefield was charged today with the rape of a disabled woman.

Stubblefield, 45, sexually assaulted the developmentally disabled victim in April of last year. She was assaulted at the defendant’s home in Morgan Hill, where she had been asked to come to interview for a babysitter job.

Stubblefield faces five felony counts related to the assault. If convicted, he faces a substantial prison sentence. Bail has been set at $250,000. The date of his arraignment at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill will be set within 24 hours.

“This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim,” prosecutor Tim McInerny said. “She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted.”

On the afternoon of April 9, the victim, 31 at the time, traveled to Stubblefield’s home after he contacted her through a babysitter website.

After the assault, the victim immediately went to the Morgan Hill Police Department to report the crime.
