(408) 792-2985   “JUSTICE FOR ALL” POSTER CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED   Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen this week will present the winners of this year’s "Justice For All" Poster Contest, in which local high school students submitted original art work depicting the devastation and dangers of Teen Dating Violence.   All of the work will be presented at an Art Show on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the County of Santa Clara Government Center's Breezeway located at 70 West Hedding St. in San Jose. The art will be on display for public viewing for almost a week. Media members are encouraged to come see the work and meet the winners.   "I am impressed and inspired by the powerful work of all of these students," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. "Their theme is how violence can infect relationships that should be made up of friendship, trust and respect. What I also saw in these posters was how young people can use their boundless creativity to make things better."   Picked from dozens of entries from all over the county, first place winner Chris Magdaleno, a student from Summit High School, Tahoma campus, in San Jose, produced a powerful piece, complete with smart phone emoticons, which will be used prominently in our county-wide October campaign focusing on Teen Dating Violence. He will receive $500 in prize money.   The second place winner Andrea Lepe, also from Summit, said she chose her "He Tells Me to Stay Quiet" theme for her digitized photograph because she had never seen an image of a young woman literally stopped from speaking out. The 15-year-old will receive $300.   Jessica Lin’s acrylic piece won third prize. She picked the imagery for her “Love is supposed to be beautiful” painting because its iconic flower symbolizes love, but “when the rose decays it doesn’t look as beautiful as before.” The Los Gatos High senior will receive $200.   The county-approved money used to fund the awards came from the District Attorney’s Asset Forfeiture funds - illegal proceeds confiscated from criminals.   # # #
