Tony and Brandon tour America’s high schools full-time on behalf of The Century Council. Brandon will speak to students about the consequences of his choice to drink and drive. Tony will talk to parents about how to discuss with their teens the risks of underage drinking. Traffic Safe Communities Network Julia Alloggiamento (District Attorney’s Office), Todd Thibideux (CHP) and Jennifer Ceynowa (AMR) will discuss the legal consequences of underage drinking and driving, as well as parent liability and social hosting. WHY: In 2005, according to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, 1,719 people were killed in alcohol-related traffic crashes in California, including 268 alcohol-related deaths among youth under 21. In California, 1,456 youths under age 18 were arrested for driving under the influence; 4,438 youths were arrested for liquor law violations; and 3,424 youths were arrested for public drunkenness.
