Lour and Khensokvann were also convicted of possessing stolen property, and Lour was convicted of possessing an illegal weapon. On January 18, 2006, two undercover police officers assigned to the Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team (SCCSET) noticed the defendants acting suspiciously while driving through a neighborhood in the Berryessa area of San Jose. The officers stopped the defendants and located a radio scanner tuned to the local San Jose Police Department dispatch channel, a pair of two-way radios, a foot-long screwdriver, and knit gloves on two of the defendants. The officers discovered numerous items of stolen property that had been taken during a residential burglary in December 2005 from a home in Porterville. They also seized a loaded handgun in the possession of defendant Sary Lour, who was on felony probation out of Los Angeles County. A Long Beach Police Department detective testified that the defendants were associated with criminal street gangs in Long Beach. Deputy District Attorney Lance Daugherty, who presented the case to the jury, praised the excellent proactive police work of the SCCSET officers. # # #
