Sexual Assault Unit, (408) 792-2624 For limited release September 27, 2004 MURDER CHARGES FILED AGAINST MAN WITH TIES TO SANTA CRUZ AND MONTEREY The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against Larry Louis Saltarelli, 59, of Los Gatos. Mr. Saltarelli is charged with the murder of his wife of 11 months, Andrea Smith, 52. Authorities believe Mr. Saltarelli fatally stabbed and bludgeoned Ms. Smith in their home the morning of September 5, 2004. The couple had previously filed for divorce, and Mr. Saltarelli was expected to move out that morning. The couple met in 2000 in the Monterey area. In 2001 they moved to Santa Cruz. In 2003 they moved to Los Gatos. They were married in October 2003. Mr. Saltarelli worked in a variety of sales positions. He sold art for the Thomas Kincaid Gallery in Monterey, cars for Pacific Coast Volvo in Santa Cruz, and time-shares for Trend West. Ms. Smith worked in sales and special events for the Monterey Marriott. In 2001 she began a career with Aegis Assisted Living in Aptos, and later transferred to Aegis in Fremont.
