DA TO PRESENT AWARDS TO EAST SAN JOSE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN FIRST EVER “JUSTICE FOR ALL” CONTEST SWEEP

The District Attorney’s 2017 “Justice for All” Writing Contest, which drew in entries from 15 Santa Clara County high schools, ended in an unprecedented clean sweep.  The three blindly selected winners came from Piedmont Hills High, part of the East Side Union High School District, in San Jose.

District Attorney Jeff Rosen announced today that he will present the contest winners their awards at a ceremony on Tuesday, August 15th, 2017.  The ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Santa Clara County Government Center’s Breezeway.  Media is invited to attend.

The winning entries will be on display for public viewing in the breezeway from Tuesday, August 15th, through Friday, August 18th.

This year’s “Justice for All” Writing Contest was themed “Race and Law Enforcement – Let’s Work Together to Make It Better.”  The District Attorney invited local high school students to submit their original work aimed at improving the relationship between law enforcement agencies and some of the communities of color that they serve.  San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia helped judge the contest submissions.
