(408) 792-2519   For release on September 16, 2011   OWNER OF HONEY BEAR POSTAL EXPRESS CHARGED WITH THEFT OF AN ELDER   On September 12, 2011, defendant Aktar Memon was arraigned on felony charges of Theft of an Elder. He is the owner of Honey Bear Postal, which is a mailbox service store located at 370 Altair in Sunnyvale. The charges were the result of an investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.   The 87 year old victim’s daughter reported her father suffers from dementia. As she reconciled her father’s books, she realized the company allegedly over-charged him $33,000. The daughter reported every time her father went to access his post office box, which was sometimes a few times a week, the defendant charged him an excessive rental fee on his debit card. The daughter stated due to her father’s dementia, he could not remember making any charges. The daughter is worried there may be other victims.   If anyone has information concerning the above, they are asked to contact Detective Alan Harnett of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at (408) 730-7189.   ###
