(408) 792-2997 For release on December 1, 2009 OWNER OF SUNNYVALE MOTORCYCLE DEALERSHIP CHARGED WITH EMBEZZLING FROM CUSTOMERS Following an investigation by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office has issued a criminal complaint charging Robin Tolleson of Rider’s Choice Used Bike Warehouse in Sunnyvale with grand theft and passing bad checks. From 2000 to 2009, Tolleson was the owner and manager of Rider’s Choice, a dealership for used motorcycles located in Sunnyvale. Tolleson sold used motorcycles on consignment. When Tolleson sold a client’s motorcycle, he would pay the client the amount set forth in a consignment agreement. The criminal complaint reflects allegations that between 2007 and 2009, Tolleson sold numerous motorcycles on consignment and embezzled the proceeds rather than paying the consignors. In some instances, Tolleson is alleged to have given the consignors insufficient funds checks in response to their demands for payment. The complaint charges that the total loss to the consignors is in excess of $65,000. Anyone with information about this crime is requested to call Investigator David Silva of the California Department of Motor Vehicles at (408) 341-1150. ###
