The deputy district attorney assigned to the Lifer Hearings Unit attends parole hearings held for life prisoners convicted out of this county at prison facilities throughout the state who have reached their minimum parole eligibility dates. While most of these hearings involve inmates convicted of first- or second-degree murder, many involve inmates convicted of other "life crimes" such as attempted murder, kidnap for robbery or rape and, in the near future, "Three Strikes" offenses.
