FROM: Amy Cornell, Public Information Officer   CONTACT: Amy Cornell, Public Information Officer (408) 792-2997   For release on March 6, 2008   REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER CHARGED WITH INAPPROPRIATELY TOUCHING CUSTOMERS IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY STORES    42-year old Greg Eugene Carter is facing two misdemeanor charges, one for attempted sexual battery and annoying or molesting a child, and one for sexual battery, stemming from two separate incidents in Santa Clara County. In one case, a juvenile victim was shopping at a Milpitas Kohl’s store in November when Carter reportedly attempted to touch her inappropriately as he walked by her. Carter’s second misdemeanor charge is a result of inappropriately touching a female shopper several times while she shopped at a Gilroy Wal-Mart in September.   Carter is a registered sex offender in the state of California. He remains in jail and will be back in court on March 12th in San Jose for a pretrial conference for the November incident. On March 27th, Carter is due back in court in San Martin for the September incident. If he is convicted of both counts, Carter could spend 18 months behind bars.   If you have any information about this case, please call Sgt.
