Rosen, with the support of the San José Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force, announces the launch of Parent Project in the Vietnamese language. This is the first time in the nation that Parent Project courses have been offered in Vietnamese. Since the District Attorney’s Office launched the unique program in 2008, English and Spanish classes have been available to Santa Clara County residents.   The Parent Project is an intensive 12-week, hands-on approach to helping parents address a variety of behaviors affecting youth. Specially trained facilitators teach the courses, which allow parents to learn and practice specific prevention, identification and intervention strategies for the most destructive of behaviors. Some of the issues addressed in the program include truancy, illegal substance use, gang involvement, running away, and violence.   The Parent Project - Vietnamese course begins on Wednesday June 22, 2011, from 6 -9 p.m., at the Seven Trees Community Center and Branch Library, 3590 Cas Dr. San José, California. The course tuition is $120, and limited scholarships are available.   For more information about this program, please call Mai Doan at (408) 347-5239 (Vietnamese/English), or Gloria Maturino at (408) 808-3794 (Spanish/English).   ###
