SUBWAY BANDIT PLEADS GUILTY
On July 29, 2005, Zachariah Ciprian, dubbed the "Subway Bandit" by local law enforcement officers, pleaded no contest to sixteen counts of armed robbery. Ciprian committed eight of the robberies at Subway Sandwich stores and the remaining robberies at Baskin Robbins, Quiznos, Jamba Juice and Game Stop stores. The businesses are located in San Jose, Santa Clara, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Saratoga. Ciprian pleaded no contest to all charges and enhancements and faces a maximum sentence of 26 years in prison. He will be sentenced by Judge Ronald Lisk on September 16, 2005, at 9 a.m. in Department 24 of the Santa Clara County Superior Court, 190 West Hedding Street, San Jose.
