(408) 792-2703   For Release on June 11, 2003   THOMAS SING – INDICTMENT – CONSPIRACY TO COMMINGLE CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS   A California Fair Political Practices Commission/Franchise Tax Board audit of the Committee to Elect Tom Sing Sheriff revealed that the former Santa Clara County candidate commingled campaign contributions with his personal funds, falsely reported late contributions, and failed to report the true source of campaign contributions in violation of the Political Reform Act.   On March 26, 2003, the Santa Clara County Criminal Grand Jury indicted Mr. Sing for conspiracy to violate the Political Reform Act. The transcript of the grand jury proceedings (a judicial public record) is on file in the criminal clerk’s office, Hall of Justice, 190 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, California.   On June 11, 2003, Mr. Sing appeared in the Santa Clara County Superior Court and pleaded guilty to the charge, as a misdemeanor. He was placed on court probation for one year and was ordered to pay a fine and penalty assessment of $5400.
