Hoodline: San Jose Insurance Agent Charged with Fraud for Faking "Good Student" Discounts

A San Jose insurance agent is in hot water for scamming his way to extra commission checks, using phony academic records to snag "Good Student" discounts for his clients, said prosecutors.

Thomas Truong, 61, was nabbed after investigators from the California Department of Insurance found he had submitted doctored diplomas and bogus grade cards from various Bay Area high schools, even though some clients were already eligible for the discounts he was sneakily securing for them and he's slated for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. in the Hall of Justice in San Jose, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office reported.

Misrepresenting his clients as students, Truong had been pocketing thousands from Farmers Insurance, which fired him once his fraudulent activities surfaced, according to official statements.
