Mercury News: Arrests announced in Bay Area crackdown on human trafficking

Bay Area authorities have announced they have freed least two dozen people from forced sex work and arrested several of their exploiters after a two-week enforcement sweep aimed at suspected human trafficking conducted online and at area hotels.

The FBI, and a multitude of local police agencies, county prosecutors, and sexual assault survivor support organizations participated in the regional crackdown that has come to be known as Operation Cross Country, an annual anti-human trafficking campaign that originated in the Bay Area 13 years ago and has since grown to a national scale.
